Barbara Christiansen, "Miss Marion County," is in the running for further royal honors. She will represent Goodnow Residence Hall at Kansas State University for the 1970 Royal Purple Queen. The Royal Purple is the K-State yearbook. Barbara is a freshman at K-State.

L.F. "Linzie" Stafford and his wife Hazel now live in Loveland, Colorado, but still hold a spot in their hearts for Marion and the people here. Recently they returned for a short visit bringing along a gigantic 17-inch sunflower they raised at their suburban home north of Loveland. It certainly is one of the largest sunflowers we've seen, and attests to the fact that even though the Staffords now reside in Colorado, they still cling to a fondness for the Kansas sunflower.
