A gigantic explosion at 5:45 Sunday morning awakened people for a radius of nearly 10 miles and blew a hole in the side of a creek bank 11 miles northeast of Marion. It seems that a young man who had returned from duty in Vietnam had some "Tamp-Tite" on his hands (two cases of explosive with 50 pounds in each case) and wanted to get rid of it before he returned to Vietnam.

Cooks out in the kitchen had a big job ahead of them Sunday preparing food for the big throng that annually shows up for the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church "Fall Festival" at Pilsen. Bohemian food is featured. Cooks pictured are Mrs. Albert Makovec, Mrs. Paul Vinduska, and Mrs. Joe Tajchman.

Men of the Valley United Methodist Church have volunteered to act as supervisors in keeping the Marion Gymnasium open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m. Both boys and girls are invited to take advantage of the facilities at this time. All ages are invited.

The August Lalouette family near Florence has had hobbies that would interest anyone with a sense of history at all. The Lalouettes have invited the public to an open house on Sunday at the new metal building that contains their hobbies. Also on display will be the doll collection of Mrs. Ray Roberts of Marion.
