Fifty years of Masonic membership was honored Oct. 27 in Marion when Henry Yakel of Peabody was presented a 50-year pin. Other members of the lodge who were entitled to receive 50 year pins but were not able to be present included Arch O'Bryant, Fred Hawthorn and G.L. Remmers.

Michelle Louise "Shelly" Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett of Marion, recently graduated from Continental Airlines' hostess training school at Los Angeles International Airport, where she has been assigned. Shelly is a 1968 graduate of Marion High School and attended Fort Hays State College.

Ginger Helmer, Mary Robertson, Janet Lawrence, and Debi Case, all of Marion, were weekend guests of Marsha Cowan at Emporia. Kathy Weber and Joyce Ford, also of Emporia, joined the group for dinner at a quaint restaurant. After a fun-filled weekend the girls returned to Marion Sunday afternoon.

Janice Jantz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Jantz, was initiated Oct. 4th into Alpha Delta Pi, social sorority at the University of Kansas at Lawrence. Miss Jantz is working as a lab assistant in the botany department. She also is a member of the student union activities committee and was recently selected for the KY synchronized swimming team.

Debbie Enos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos, has been notified she has been selected to represent the Flint Hills Girl Scouts in the Wider Opportunities for Girl Scouts program. Participants will live aboard the RMS Queen Mary at Long Beach, California, where, among other activities, a museum and exhibits aboard will provide a laboratory for exploring the seas.
