Private First Class Wesley Sidner, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sidner of Burns, lost his life in Vietnam on Saturday, November 23. His parents were so notified by a Marion Corps officer this past Sunday. This is the fourth young man from the Marion and western Chase county areas to give his life in Vietnam.

Mrs. S.R. Lunderman is pictured lifting one of the five lemons left of the 54 the tree bore during the season. The tree, standing in a display window at the Western Auto Associate Store, is quite an attention getter.

Army Captain Thomas E. Good, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Good, Marion, received the Bronze Star Medal near Pleiku, Vietnam, October 15. Capt. Good was presented the award for meritorious service in connection with military operations against hostile forces in Vietnam while serving as a medical supply officer for the 4th Infantry Division.

A chartered bus load of sports fans from this area witnessed the Chiefs and Raiders professional football game in Kansas City Sunday. Thirty men and three boys made the trip. Two were from Hillsboro, two from Elmdale, and 29 from Marion.

Miss Irma Wymore, former English and drama teacher at Marion High School, has joined the American Red Cross as a recreation social worker and has volunteered for a year's tour of duty with the combat forces in Vietnam. Since leaving Marion in 1965, Miss Wymore has been teaching in Brighton, Colo.

Judy Abbott, Lincolnville, missed $50 at Wednesday's Cash Day drawing. Lola Calbeck, Peabody, missed $10; Rudy Konarik, Marion, received $15; Mrs. Susan Brooks, Florence, received $15; and Bertha Mailen, Marion, received $5.

Members of the Centre basketball teams have been announced. Varsity players are Bard Backhus, Myron Bentz, Jesse Brunner, Jason Commerford, Steve Deines, Jim Hensley, Gary Holub, Glenn Kerbs, John Klenda, Mike Noone, Wayne Poppe, Dale Priddy and Ken Carlson.
