The flag at the Marion post office flew at half mast and stores were closed during the afternoon Thursday in tribute to Dr. George J. Goodsheller, 94-year-old physician, who served this community from 1911 to his retirement in 1963.

The following officers were elected at the Jan. 15 meeting of Girl Scout Troop 60: Carol Colburn, treasurer; Lori Schmidtberger, secretary; and Molly Ferrell, scribe.

Donald W. Myers of Peabody has been named a member of the 1971 President's Club of the Nutrena Feeds division of Cargill, Inc. He is manager of the sales territory which covers nine central Kansas counties, including Marion County. This is the third time Myers has been named to this select group.

Rodney Jirak was guest of honor Jan. 18 at a party at the Robert Jirak home in celebration of his fifth birthday. Guests were Kerry Sandwell, Darryl Herbel, Jeff Burkholder, and Rodney's brothers, Tim and Kevin Jirak.

Sgt. Garry Klose arrived home Jan. 13 from Thailand where he has been stationed for 18 months.

Eight members of Girl Scout Cadette Troop 66 and their leaders attended a meeting Sunday afternoon at the First Christian Church in Emporia. Those making the trip were Sandra Marler, Cheryl Break, Suzanne Cook, Debbie Enos, Barbara Boyle, Teresa Costello, and Beverly Swanson and leaders Mrs. Mac Culver and Mrs. Robert Meier.

Msgr. Arthur Tonne attended a meeting in Hutchinson on Wednesday and Thursday. This was a pilot meeting of the White House conference dealing with the problems of older Americans.

A group of women in the Aulne community met Monday afternoon to plan a bridal shower for Melanie Hett, bride-elect of Larry Ensey.
