Marion's annual Christmas Lighting Contest will conclude Sunday with judging of the traditional luminary decorations. Again this year, Marion residents plan to decorate their homes in this richly traditional and highly attractive manner. Lighted luminaries will line every sidewalk, driveway and entrance on Christmas Eve.

The Marion City Commission voted Monday to purchase a new five-yard slurry seal machine for resealing city streets. Cost of the machine is $10,945.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Stika Jr., Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet Marie, to Douglas Allen Marler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Marler, Marion. A June 16 wedding is being planned.

Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Stenzel were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stenzel, Eric and Eugene of McPherson and Mr. and Mrs. Don Stenzel, Jeffrey and Tamara. The dinner was in honor of Tamara's first birthday.

Junior bowlers from MarBowl Lanes walked away with nine trophies at the Fifth District Tournament completed at Emporia this past weekend. Marsha Poppe, Lincolnville, won first in the senior girls division. Jim Richmond, Marion, took second in the senior boys division. Other trophies went to Jim Bliss, Brad Pontious, and to K-J Well Service whose team members, Brad Pontious, Gary Boyle, Gloria Pontious, Rocky Kristek and Casey Case, won third in Division Two.
