Eight more happy children were winners of prizes Thursday night when Marion merchants again sponsored the weekly Christmas drawing. Winners of the toys were Tim Richmond, John Koslowsky, John Silhan, Sheryl Bishop, Patty Bliss, Laurie Silhan, Laurie Ratzloff, and Barbara Costello. Names were drawn by Margaret Cox.

Gary Hageberg, operator of the Burdick Meat Market and Lockers, will hold an open house on Sunday to mark the golden anniversary of the business founded by his father in 1921. He will also show remodeled and expanded facilities.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Keazer were; in Emporia Saturday evening to attend the last of three performances of "Tides of Time" presented by Kansas State Teachers College Aquettes, a swimming troupe. Jeanne Keazer, daughter of the Keazers and a senior at KSTC, was one of the performers in the program.

Rae Jean Woerz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woerz, is one of 10 candidates elected by the student body for the Brown-Mackie School of Business Personality Queen of 1971.

"Amahl and the Night Visitors," a one-act Christmas opera will be presented by the Swing Singers of Marion High School this Saturday. The lead role of Amahl is played by Sherie Christensen. The mother is portrayed by Marilee McGinness. Performing roles of the three kings are Mike Edmunds, Mike Jackson, and Ed Hett. Supporting roles include the page, Barry Seifert; two dancers, Debbie Link and Becky Wood; and the shepherds' chorus, the Swing Singers. Accompanying the performance will be Sandi Hoover and Mrs. Kenneth Forsyth. The Swinger Singers are under the direction of Kenneth Forsyth.

Growing bigger and more beautiful each year is the tin can lid Christmas tree in the front yard of Mrs. Lillie Schlotthauer at 406 North Freeborn in Marion. It shines and glistens, and is a breathtaking sight at night.

Mrs. W.G. (Neva) Carroll, service representative for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Marion, retired Friday after completing more than 34 years with the company. Mrs. Betty Yoder will take over the duties of Mrs. Carroll.
