Gerry Harris, Marion auto dealer, was re-elected Friday as president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce for the coming year. Other officers elected included Wint Smith, vice president; and Will Helmer and Dean Pippin to the board of directors. Hold-over board members are Wint Smith, Leland Heidebrecht, Charles Halls, and Jack Beaston.

Again this week nine youngsters from this area will be made happy when they are present to claim their prize as their name is called in the weekly Christmas drawing. Last week's winners were Carla Annis, Debbie Douglas, Terry Weigart, Ronnie Woerz, Jamie Richmond, Mike Robinson, Donna Sherbert, Bill Silhan, Doug Heerey, and Georgia Kline.

Tim Jirak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jirak, celebrated his fifth birthday Tuesday afternoon. Tim was born on Christmas Day, so his mother invited friends to come early to help him celebrate. Those who enjoyed games, favors, cake, and ice cream were Eric Wakeman, Jay Christensen, Eddie Yeager, Darryl Herbel, Jerry Jirak, and Rodney Jirak.

The interesting hobby of baking Christmas cookies has been pursued by Mrs. Howard Mullen, Marion, for 35 years and will be featured Friday morning on a Wichita television program.

Mrs. Elfreida Freyer of Freilashing, Germany, has visited in Marion in the past and was delighted to see the town featured on German television during the past year. In a letter to Esther Sievers, Mrs. Freyer said she recognized the town at once. Some of the scenes were at the Emmanuel Baptist Church here.

A number of girls were invited for dinner at the Ed Costello home Dec. 11 as a surprise for Teresa Costello, who was celebrating her 12th birthday. Following the meal, the girls attended the junior high basketball game at Peabody. Those present were Mariann Elling, Angie Krause, Cheryl Break, Cheryl Lawrence, Patty Kjellin, Lisa Brose, Neva Oller, Denise Magathan, Suzanne Cook, and Ginger Lentz.
