Bill Holmes, chamber of commerce president, held the box loaded with registration slips while C.W. "Shorty" Estes drew the names of 21 winners in Marion's big gift certificate drawing Saturday. Mrs. Bill Burkholder received the $50 certificate while $10 certificates went to Gary Holub, Bonnie Schmidt, Mrs. Billy Meier, Mrs. Jim Druse, Mrs. Melvin Ruthloff, Lester Henderson, Judy Pickering, Lillian Benda, Pauline Creamer, Mrs. Louis Robertson, Pearl Helmer, Edith Spencer, Bessie M. Cooper, Leah Janzen, Paul W. Vogel, John Huna, Lena Ehrlich, Mrs. Floyd Siebert, Bill Baker, and Mike Bezdek.

The annual Happy Hustler's 4-H Club coyote hunt, held on New Years Day, will be held again this year. The hunt attracts many sportsmen each year and is open to the public.

Mrs. Paul Backhus of Tampa and Carl Stovall of Marion are the big winners in the annual Marion County Record subscription contest. Mrs. Backhus has won the new Olivetti electric adding machine and Stovall will receive the new Olivetti portable typewriter.

All federal offices, including the Marion post office, will be closed all day Thursday in memory of President Harry S Truman.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen left Marion Dec. 10 for a flight to the Pacific where they spent several days visiting two of the islands in the territory of Hawaii. The Christensens were on an expense-paid trip won from International Harvester Company. They returned to the mainland Dec. 16.

Chase County forward Steve Armagost, dominates individual statistics for Cottonwood Valley League basketball players. He leads in scoring and ranks in the top four in three other categories. Sid Robinson, Marion, leads in field goal shooting while teammate Dave Carr tops the free-throw shooting category.

LeRoy Riggs, Marion, has been appointed a Kansas Foundation Trustee for 1973. The foundation serves as a clearing house for Kiwanis Club perpetual memorials and permanent funds.
