The U.S. Army presented a display case of ribbons and medals to the widow of a Marion soldier who died a hero's death in Vietnam. The presentation was made last Wednesday evening at the home Mrs. Bob Boese, with only close relatives and one news reporter present. The attractive walnut case contained nine awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct medal, and the Combat Infantryman badge, along with others.

An ordinance published in this week's issue of the Marion County Record clears the way for the city of Marion to purchase a new piece of fire fighting equipment to replace one of the present trucks. The city will issue no-fund warrants in an amount not to exceed $15,275.69 for the new fire truck. The old model truck will be sold to another fire district.

Mrs. John Markham left by jet from Kansas City Monday for Heidelberg, Germany, where she will visit her son and family, Major and Mrs. William Markham, Michael, Leslie, and Barbara for several weeks.

Lisa Wilson was guest of honor at a party after school Wednesday in celebration of her seventh birthday. Guests included Jan Nuss, Laura Wakeman, Leslie Burkholder, Becky Houdyshell, Tammy Sandwell, and Linda Williams.

Dr. R.W. Wygle, president of Arkansas College at Batesville, Ark., this week announced that Mrs. Robert Ames has joined the faculty of the school as an instructor of physical education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. June Jost, and a graduate of Marion High School and Kansas State Teachers College.
