A big job was tackled by street and road crews of the city, county and state when the largest and most widespread snowstorm of this century hit Kansas Saturday night and continued until Monday evening. Over a foot of snow on the level fell in Marion, but did not stay "on the level." The snow drifted into piles four and five feet deep in spots, making traffic impossible.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald L. Holub of Hesston are the proud parents of a son, Gregory Lee, born February 18. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bezdek of Lost Springs and Mrs. Mary Holub of Tampa.

Maurita Deines, daughter of Mrs. Rudy Deines, and a graduate of Marion High School, will appear as the "Apprentice's Conscience" in the production of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" March 4, 5, 11 and 18 at Butler County Community College.

The annual Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scout Pack 102 was held February 15 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The following Cubs received awards: Mike Richmond, Doug Webb, Jim Dreier, Gary Ehrlich, Bryan Taylor, Brad Esslinger, Brad Carlson, Brett Pippin, Bruce Winkler, Rodney Schmidt, Billy Hoch, Kevin Wilson, Richard Roberts, David Bryant, Jay Smith, Gary Naden, Rick Richmond, and Ronald Kristek.

Pancakes were the menu of the day in Marion Saturday. Bud Hannaford and Matthew Classen are pictured as they tend the griddle at the Kiwanis Pancake feed to benefit the youth of the community. In the background are Homer Stenzel and Chuck Halls who are busily cooking sausage.
