John Hett of the Aulne community celebrated his 84th birthday Monday, March 1. Not only is Mr. Hett 84, but with the arrival of four new great-grandchildren during the past month, he now has 84 in his family of descendants. Mr. Hett has nine children, all are married for a total of 18, 32 grandchildren, 17 of whom are married, and 17 great-grandchildren for a total of 84 in his family.

Miss Kathy Kay Bernhardt, Tampa, has been selected as one of 14 finalists for the Miss E-State award at Emporia. A sophomore at Kansas State Teachers College, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bernhardt of Tampa.

At the Monday evening meeting of Coterie Club, Dean Batt showed slides of the Batt family's trip last summer to Expo '70 and other parts of Japan.

Winners of the recent snooker tournament held at The Q Recreation in Marion were Tip McFadden, Richard Rittel, John Gutsch, and LeRoy Roberts.

Rounds and Stewart gas plant northwest of Marion is in the process of moving to a new location where gas production is available in greater quantities and the tax structure is more conducive to the operation of such a plant.

At the recent bowling tournament at MarBowl Lanes, the United team took high handicap score with Steve's Vending, the scratch winner. Jack Webb and Homer Stenzel were first in handicap and scratch in the doubles event; Chet McKibbin was first in scratch and handicap in singles; and in all events, Mac Burkholder was first in handicap with Les Kaiser first in scratch.
