Don Druse has moved his plumbing business from Hillsboro to Marion. His business location will be at 119 East Main, just west of the Wiens Farm Store.

The year 1971 marks the beginning of a second century of Presbyterianism at Marion. The past century has been spent with the same building and many of the same furnishings. This centennial year is planned as a series of events emphasizing dedication to the future and commemoration of the past.

The Marion Warriors took third place in the Kansas State 2A track meet held Friday and Saturday in Wichita.

Retired Florence businessman James Ryan has this week contributed $500 to St. Luke Hospital to be used in whatever way the board of directors thinks advisable and necessary. Mr. Ryan has been a generous contributor to the hospital during the past three years that Hospital District Number One has take over ownership of the institution. He has donated $1,000 each year.

Athletes at Marion High School now have a modern weight lifting machine, thanks to the voluntary contributions of people over a wide area. Some contributions came from as far away as Norfolk, Va., from Clifford M. "Snakey" Slifer, a former MHS athlete. The machine cost over $1,100 and will be housed in the north room of Marion Stadium.

William L. Winkley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Winkley of Marion, graduated Saturday afternoon from Washburn University with a Juris Doctorate degree from the School of Law.

Five Marion High School seniors have been listed in the annual directory of the Society of Outstanding American High School Students. They are Kendall Helmer, Debbi Case, Shelley Batt, Brad Case, and Eric Meyer.
