The final winner in the Marion County Record "Vagabond Weekend" contest was Leonard Bartel, who registered at Marion Motor Center. Bartel will enjoy a vacation weekend with his family in St. Louis later this summer.

Wint's 66 Service in Marion was the victim of "till tappers" sometime Sunday evening with a loss of over $1,200 in checks, credit card receipts and cash.

Lee Remy of Burdick, Irvin Christiansen of Durham, Joe Clemence of Herington and Edward Tulle of Roxbury are the new owners of the Marion Livestock Sales and Commission company. They have purchased the local sales barn, along with the Herington Livestock Auction Co. from C.C. Wendt of Herington and Ted Haefner of Lincolnville.

The memorial fountain in Marion's beautiful Central Park soon will be a reality. Steve Jost and his crew of men have poured concrete into the round edged forms that will contain the pool of the fountain. It will be elevated above ground level, and should complement the natural beauty of the scenic park. Construction will be completed within a couple of weeks.

The Cottonwood Valley League all-star team has been selected that will play in the Babe Ruth district playoff in Argonia starting July 25. Marion players picked are Jack Loomis, Gary Holub, Don Bredemeier, Rick Erickson, Roger Hannaford, Sid Robinson and Doug Marler.

Conrad Steinel announced this week that he and Dave Stroud will conduct a class in code and radio theory for all those who would like to learn to become "ham" radio operators.
