The old Santa Fe depot in Marion is retiring. The arrival of Santa Fe's new mobile agency, which will now serve Marion residents, forced the station into mothballs.

Mrs. Neva Applegate will be the honor guest at an open house August 1 in the Lutheran Parish Hall in Ramona. Mrs. Applegate will retire July 32 after 42 years in postal service.

Bryce Ollenberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ollenberger, Marion, is appearing this summer with the resident company of the famed Starlight Theatre in Kansas City.

A Cinderella birthday party was given July 21 in honor of Jami Shirley's 7th birthday. Guests included Janene Dreier, Melissa Robinson, Loraine and Loreen Wiens, Lori Kelsey, Kris Kelsey, and Ann Marie Waner.

Coterie Club members had a farewell coffee for Mrs. Conrad Steinel last Thursday morning at the home of Mrs. E.D. Longhofer. Assistant hostesses were Mrs. Wayne Varenhorst and Mrs. Gerald Harp.

Chi Rho youth group of Marion Christian Church enjoyed a fishing party July 18 at a farm pond north of town. Rev. and Mrs. Raymond Ewing and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lawrence assisted with the fishing procedures. The group then enjoyed a wiener roast. Those attending were Jeannie May, Debbie Ratzloff, Sue Fruechting, Jeanne Koslowsky, Diane Woerz, Cheryl Lawrence, Chris Jost, Jim and John Koslowsky, Bob and Gary Hett, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Koslowsky, sponsors.

Members of the Junior Babe Ruth baseball team honored their coach, Ventura Gonzales, and family with a picnic at the city park Saturday evening. Team members are Daryl Enos, Mike Klose, Jim Bredemeier, Sid Robinson, David Huntley, Jim Richmond, Jim Coe, Randy Conyers, Dennis Hamm, Doug Helmer, and Bob Hett.
