People living in Hospital District Number One have been invited to attend a special informational meeting Sept. 22 at St. Mark's Activity Center. Purpose of the meeting will be to plan the formation of a hospital district auxiliary for Saint Luke Hospital.

Vandals have been doing all sorts of "odd jobs" at the Marion Reservoir ever since it has been constructed, mostly minor in nature, but this week they really got destructive. Sometime Monday night the large redwood sign at the boat ramp in Hillsboro Cove was stolen. The sign is valued in excess of $900. Sheriff Charles Frans is working on the case.

Pianist Van Cliburn will be presented in concert at Emporia this Thursday evening.

Miss Judy E. Smith and John R. Sandwell were united in marriage Aug. 22 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Edmond R. Sandwell of Marion.

Mrs. Mick Summervill was honored with a baby shower Sept. 8 at the home of Mrs. Forrest Smith. Mrs. Roger W. Hannaford served as co-hostess.

Barbara Christiansen, Durham, who was "Miss Marion County" last year, was finalist in the recent "Miss Agriculture" contest at Kansas State University. Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Christiansen.

Bryan Taylor was guest of honor at a party Sept. 8 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor. Bryan was celebrating his eighth birthday. Invited guests included Devin and Dirk Francis, Kim Kline, Bradley Carlson, Jim Dreier, Brad and Doug Heerey, Ronnie and Rocky Kristek and Bryan's brother, Bruce Taylor.
