We surely didn't need it, but we surely got it. Another 3 1/2-inch snow Wednesday night, that is. County and state highway crews were called out in the middle of the night to take care of the new fall that was in progress. The three snows, so far this month, have measured at a total of eight inches in depth.

The annual Spring Banquet, until this year called the Ladies Night Banquet, is being held tonight at the city building. A special recognition will be given tonight to Marion High school students for academic achievement. The honor award students are: seniors Ruth Ann Melcher and Junior Post; juniors James Gilbert, Arlene Hett, Milford Hett, Alvin Hoffman, Marilyn Loveless, and Richard Meisinger; sophomores Tom Gardner, Kathy May, Dennis Navrat, Naomi Stenzel, and Lou Wheeler; and freshmen Rosalie Dohner, Karen Jost, Bill Krause, Ronald Oelschlager, Eileen Pavey, James Stephens, and Julia Wooldridge.

Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Wilson of the Wilson's Food Center this Saturday are having a formal opening of their recently purchased store in Marion. They offer many bargains, free gifts and refreshments.

Mrs. Darrell Riffel will present 15 of her piano pupils in recital Monday evening at the Presbyterian church. The pupils taking part are Jimmy and Margaret Bass, Janice Wygle, Patty Bledsoe, Jimmy Magee, David Magee, Carol Richardson, Cindy Powell, JoAnn Magee, Marvin Meisinger, Larry Ensey, Linda Loney Donna Hanschu, Lucinda Hauser and Naomi Stenzel.

Mrs. Kenneth McGranor helped her son, Scott, entertain a number of friends March 6 on his second birthday. Invited were Pam, Dennis and Debbie Adams, Kim and Karen Young, Dennis, Denice, and Douglas Helmer, Mike Ewert, Gregory Carlson, John Higgins, Jimmy Coe, Mary Robertson, and Deborah Robertson of Manhattan.
