The series of ever-popular Marion Cash Days will begin again next Wednesday, July 23, after a harvest recess.

Lillie Keazer has completed 40 years service with the telephone company. When she started in 1918 there were eight operators, working six days a week for a salary of $5 per week. Today, the office employs nine operators who handle 700 lines and work a five day week at a starting wage of $44. Miss Keazer is the chief operator. She was guest of honor at a picnic Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Meierhoff. She wore an orchid, the gift of the Bell Company, and her co-workers presented her with a birthstone ring and earrings.

The wedding of Miss Judith Maxine Covey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Covey, and Eugene Howard Waner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Waner was solemnized at St. Mark Catholic Church Saturday morning at nine o'clock.

The Marion Babe Ruth baseball team played at Peabody last Friday, winning 20-3 with Gerald Kelsey and Ora Hett pitching. Kelsey struck-out 11 and Hett, one. Oelschlager and Evans each made doubles and Gerald Kelsey made two. John Christensen had a three-bagger and a home run. The team went to Assaria Sunday where they won 6-1 with Crawford, Kline and Kelsey pitching 10 strike-outs. Jerry Schwemmer made a triple and Oelschlager had two doubles.

David Ecker was two years old Wednesday and his mother invited several of his little friends in for the afternoon to help celebrate the occasion. Those present included Cindy and Debbie Rector, Doug and Sandra Marler, Gregory and Jeannie May and David's brother, Dale.

A group of friends gathered at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Batt Thursday evening for a house warming. The group presented the Batts with a set of TV trays.
