The Marion Warriors are again at the top of the Cottonwood Valley loop race, with no other team sharing the honors. On Tuesday night of this week, Marion won over Hope 94-53 with Jim Christensen breaking the school scoring record with 18 points.

Mr. and Mrs. George Miser, former Marion residents who built and have been operating the Flint Hills Motel on U.S.-50 near Strong City, have traded the property to Gilbert Mott, also a former Marion man. Mr. and Mrs. Miser and family will move to the Mott farm, one and one-half miles south of Cottonwood Falls.

It is interesting to note in our "As It Used To Be" column on this page that 10 years ago, and also 35 years ago, new engines were being installed at the Marion power plant. Today we are making ready to install another.

Three students from Marion will appear Jan. 14th with the 61-piece Emporia State College symphonic band in a concert in Albert Hall. They are LaVern Hoffman, who plays the cornet, and Margaret McClain and Marion Summervill, both playing percussion instruments.

The board of County Commissioners met this week and conducted their regular annual reorganization. Commissioner Ed Nicklaus of the third district was named chairman of the board to succeed Commissioner George E. Merilatt, who has served the past year. Commissioner George S. Jost was re-named chairman of the commission in its capacity as county welfare board.
