Another new addition to the hospital equipment at St. Luke is a child's size respirator, the gift of Marion's Coterie Club. A check to pay for the purchase of the respirator was presented to Sister Mary Ferdinand, hospital supervisor, by Mrs. James Kline, club president, and Mrs. Carl Elling, treasurer.
Betty Sellers, Florence, was adjudged Marion County 4-H club cherry pie baking contest winner Saturday in the county contests held in the home economics department at Marion High School. Other contestants judged were Shirley Unrua, Lehigh; Sandra Higgins, Marion; Janice Pfifer, Peabody; and JoAnn Negley, Durham.
Personnel in the offices at the courthouse were guests of the commissioners Tuesday noon at a dinner in the commissioners' room. The main course, turkey, was a gift from John DeForest, Peabody. The remainder of the menu was provided by the other commissioners. The turkey was baked by Mrs. Ben Ehrlich and the women of the courthouse brought dessert.
Patsy Hett, senior in nurse training at St. Joseph's training school, Wichita, has been chosen by her class as candidate of Sweetheart Queen for the Valentine ball to be held Feb. 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case entertained with a family dinner Tuesday evening honoring their little daughter, Tammy's fourth birthday anniversary. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Noll, Mr. and Mrs. Wharton Hoch, Dick, Bob, and Beverly, and Brad Case.
Bob Exline and Mary Hannaford, students at Kansas State at Manhattan, were guests of her mother, Mrs. Norma Hannaford, over the weekend. On Sunday, all were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hannaford and baby of Emporia for a dinner honoring both Roger's and his sister Mary's birthdays, which occur on Jan. 13.
Rex Siebert left for Denver Jan. 8 with 11 head of his cattle which he will show at the National Western Livestock Show Jan. 15 to 22.
