Marion County's first snow of the winter started Saturday with a flurry, then added enough more Tuesday to bring out snow plows in part of the county. More is predicted for today, Thursday.

Notices are being posted today, Thursday, calling for a special meeting and vote of all patrons of the new northeast Marion County rural high school district on a location for their new high school building. The site for the new building to be voted upon is located at the site of the old Hartke school, a short distance east of Highway U.S.-77, two miles north of Lincolnville.

Ronald and Donald Sloup, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Sloup, asked friends for a party at their home Tuesday after school to help them celebrate their eighth birthday. Guests included Neil Colle, Pat Costello, Mike Wood, Steven Heinz, Jimmie Magee, Chuck Bredemeier, Dennis Highsmith, Bobby Winchester, Eddie Frickey, Bobby Elling and Rickey Sloup.

Baseball fans in this area have a special treat in store for them next summer when Marion will be host to the state tournament of the Kansas "Babe Ruth" leagues. This tournament is set up for the latter part of July, with Harold Keazer, Marion postmaster, named as state tournament manager.

Tamara Case celebrated her sixth birthday Friday by taking individual cakes to each member of her first grade class and in the evening, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Rosse Case, entertained relatives at a birthday dinner. Guests included Tamara, Braddock and Teresa Case, Mr. and Mrs. Rosse Case, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr., Deborra and Diana, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Noll, and Beverly and Bobby Hoch.

The two Sunday school classes of the Methodist church taught by Lloyd Davies and Kenneth Rigler finished up their contest for members with a tie and celebrated the event with a basement party Saturday evening at the home of Ruth Muck. Several were unable to attend, but members of the class and their guests present included John Price, Carlita Bass, Margaret McClain, Ted White, Tommy Shirley, Darlene Oblander, Paul Schmersey, Beverly Bredemeier, Junior Post, Neil Hoopes, Laurence Griggs, Carmen Siebert, Marilyn Loveless, Jerry Shirley, Robert Melton and Ruth Muck.

Mr. and Mrs. June Jost have purchased the Jesse West dairy farm two miles east of Marion. The purchase was of the 80-acre tract south of the highway.
