The citizens of Marion will be called upon at the regular city election April 1 to decide whether or not they desire fluoridation control of their city water.

Slick roads are given as the cause of several accidents on county highways the past week. In fact, Sheriff Ezra Bernhardt was called to cover three within one 12-hour period last Thursday.

A steak dinner at the Daily Hotel in Herington Saturday evening was given for employees of the Greeley Gas Company. Those from the Marion office who were guests included Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fruechting, Miss Irene Morse, and Mrs. Homer Reinke.

Marion remains on top in the Cottonwood Valley League by virtue of a win over Hillsboro, 57-49, on Friday and Cottonwood Falls' 44-22 upset over Herington on Tuesday. The "Queen of the Court" will be crowned in Friday night's final home game of the season with Hope

Miss Tena Koslowsky, Marion, received $100 in this week's Cash Day drawing. Others receiving prizes were Joseph Rudolph, Tampa, $15; Mrs. Walter Ruby, Marion, $30; and Mrs. Mary Ollenberger, Tampa, $45. Nancy Broadstreet, Marion, missed $20.

Carolyn Rae Susdorf is the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow at Marion High School. The award will be made in a special assembly Friday, sponsored by the Future Homemakers Club.

It seems likely that the Tampa Tigers have won the North Marion County League basketball title this year, with a record so far of eight wins and no defeats. The only way they could be tied for first would be to lose the remaining two games, at Durham and at Lost Springs.

Jay Fisher from Marion, fine arts seniors at KU, is one of an instrumental jazz group which will represent Kansas University in the first Big Eight conference-wide variety show being presented Feb. 14 in Lawrence. The show is called "Stars for '58."
