Another of the popular student educational tours, participated in for several years by Marion County schools, will be taken on March 22. The tour will be a one-day affair, taken by Santa Fe train to Dodge City and return, with a visit to oil fields, Wright park, and Boot Hill museum as highlights of the trip. The all-expense fare for students will be $2.50 for students and for adults $5.00 according to Mrs. Viola Klassen, county superintendent.

Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Cook are building a two room addition to their modern ranch style home on Elm Street When completed the new construction will give two additional bedrooms and make an attractive impression.

The State Highway Commission Wednesday made a definite decision on the rather controversial question of a location of the state highway shops in the area. The new shop buildings will be located on a tract of land purchased from Sam Thole, one mile north of Marion's Main Street on the Cedar Street road.

It was Jim Christensen's 17th birthday Saturday and his mother, Mrs. Lynn Christensen, invited a number of his high school friends and the coaches for a birthday dinner in his honor Saturday evening. Guests included John Minear, Roland Vogel, Warren Gardner, Wade Robertson, James Gilbert, Junior Post, Neal Hoopes, Tom Shirley, Marion Kelsey, and coaches Floyd Yaussi, Ed Frickey and C.R. Wall.

Anniversary celebrations reported in the issue included the following: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hansen, Marion, 40th; Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Bluhm, Marion, 50th; Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Newcomer, Peabody, 62nd; Mr. and Mrs. Curt Hutchens, Marion, 40th.

A full corps of young baton twirlers strutted their stuff at the basketball game last Friday and formed an honor guard for the Queen and her attendants.
