One of the best recent innovations in the Marion grade schools is the milk program, according to reports from teaches, parents and the school administration. At low cost, it is adding greatly to students' health, interest and vitality.

One of Marion County's oldest and best known general stores, the Strickler Mercantile Company of Ramona, burned to the ground in a roaring, uncontrollable fire shortly before midnight Thursday. All that was standing by mid-afternoon Friday was a brick chimney.

Edwin Manville Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, took the two-day state bar examination this week and was admitted Wednesday to practice in Kansas. He has taken his law course at Washburn College, Topeka.

Patsy Rea Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hett and senior at St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Wichita, was crowned Sweetheart Queen of Hearts at the school's annual valentine formal ball Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Longhofer announced the engagement of their daughter, Theodora, to Mr. Harry Koslowsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koslowsky, Peabody. The wedding date hasn't been set.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tajchman on the birth of a baby boy Feb. 12 at St. Luke Hospital. The baby has been named Mark Vincent.
