Mrs. Inez Ray of the Selective Service office announces that all boys reaching their 18th birthday should register at the Selective Service office within five days after attaining this age. This regulation applies even though one has enlisted in a reserve company. Registration and submission of a questionnaire ensures receipt of proper classification.

An old water well, on the point across the neck east of the swim beach site at the Marion County Park and Lake, is to be recovered for use. The well, which is about 100 feet deep was first used for the water supply for the CCC camp when the lake dam was constructed, has a four-inch pipe and brass cylinder. There is 80 feet of good water in it. A hand pump will be installed.

Top winner in the pen of 25 lambs division at the Wichita Lamb and Wool Show was W.H. Janzen of Florence. The top pen consisted of 19 prime and 6 choice lambs and competed with 12 other pens in this division. This is the second year in a row that Janzen has won this event.

The vacancy as head of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation which has existed since the death of L.P. Richter, several months ago, was filled this week when Attorney General John Anderson name Logan Sanford of St. John for the position.

Mrs. Martin Jantz entertained a group of boys Monday afternoon in celebration of her son Michael's eighth birthday. The boys for Michael's second grade made up the guest list and were: Steven Childs, Pat Costello, Curtis Eckstrom, Bobby Elling, Steven Heinz, Bruce Kelsey, Garry Klose, James Magee, John Sandwell, Donnie Sloup and Bobby Winchester.
