A highly interesting window display is being shown over the Old Settlers' weekend by Dr. C.A. Branch in the show window of the Marion Paint Shop. The display is of Branch's "Jayhawk" Kennels and features many cups, trophies and awards which were presented to him while he was the outstanding breeder of Boston Terrier dogs in the country.

A snappy VFW color guard is performing at all home football games this season, taking care of the flag raising. The squad is comprised of Albert Bernhardt, commander of the squad; A.J. Hett, color guard; Harold Bowers and Charles Heerey, color bearers; Chester McKibben, color guard; and Lawrence Gilbert, who presents the colors.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muck sponsored a hamburger fry at the Marion County Lake Thursday evening for members of the high school Sunday school class of the Methodist church. The class is taught by Kenneth Rigler and Lloyd Davies. The young folks present were Oscar Davies, Robert Melton, Ralph Kreutziger, John Price, John Minear, Junior Post, Tommy Shirley, Dick Rittel, Paul Schmersey, Dale Johnston, Larry Olsen, Ruth Muck, Marilyn Loveless, and Margaret McClain.

The Roscoe Czarnowsky farm about three miles east and a little north of Lincolnville, was the scene of a disastrous fire Sunday afternoon. Reported destroyed in the fire were a large hay barn, a granary, a milk house, about 3000 bales of prairie hay, a truck and some other implements.

Mrs. Ed Frickey asked guests for a birthday party after school Thursday evening honoring her son, Eddie's seventh birthday. Those who enjoyed the party were Eddie, David Longhofer, Chuck Bredemeier, Donald and Ronald Sloup, Neil Colle, Steve Childs, Jackie Hill, Bobby Elling, Danny Frickey and Terry Eakes.

Miss Viola Thompson present the following pupils in recital Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church: Lowell and Larry Ensey, Donnie and Mary Westerhaus, Melody Thompson, Pamela Vinduska, Loretta Smith, Barbara Helmer, Doris Haas, Karen Keazer, Sandra Jackson, Anita Schlehuber, Jean Morse, Beverly Winter, Donna Newsom, Johnny Hoover, Dick Morse, Marilyn Suderman, Janet Stiller, Judy Richards, Sue Ann Bratton, Julia Wooldridge, Rosalie Dohner and Karen Jost.
