This week marks the second anniversary of the opening of St. Luke Hospital. On Monday, October 18, the feast of St. Luke, patron of the hospital and special patron of physicians was commemorated with a luncheon honoring the active staff members. Their wives also were guests of the hospital. Those present were Dr. and Mrs. G.J. Goodsheller, Dr. and Mrs. R.R. Melton, Dr. and Mrs. C.R. Magee, and Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey.

The Marion Girl Scout organization is growing steadily, and now has a membership of 50 girls of ages seven through 10. A number of the girls are pictured on the front page giving the scout salute. Those in the picture are Deanna Kimball, Connie Fisher, Janet Whitlock, Faith Louise Kelsey, Claudia Cavender, Donna Newsom, Charlotte Langley, Georgia Helmer, Mary Sue Reh, Karen Schroeder, and Sandra Jackson.

Mr. and Mrs. Enos Kapaun, Pilsen, were honored guests Thursday evening, October 14, in connection with the successful fund drive to construct a boys' high school in Wichita as a memorial to the late Chaplain Emil Kapaun, hero priest of the Korean campaign.

Mrs. Alden Slusser entertained a number of children Saturday afternoon in celebration of their son, Wallace's, sixth birthday. Invitations were sent to John Schmersey, Richard Hume, Lonny Stage, Wally and Patty Bledsoe, Susan Lentz, Wayne King, Steven and Janice Childs, Jeannie Keazer, Dennis Conyers, Susan Bailey, Judy Pankratz, Bobby Good, Dean Jost, and Patty Sue Plenert.

Two perfect 100 out of 100 target scores were turned in at the meet Sunday sponsored by the Marion Gun Club at the Marion Athletic Associating traps east of Marion. Shooting in the 16-yard event class, A.J, Rexroat, Hoisington, and Al Williams, Marion, tied for honors, each shooting a perfect score. It was the second time Rexroat shot 100x100 here. Only three perfect scores have been recorded at shoots held here.
