Clara B. McKay, the "good right hand" of five Marion County Clerks, is retiring from her office tin the courthouse this week, completing almost 37 years of service to the people of Marion County.

The city commission in regular session Monday evening accepted the bid of the Fairbanks Morse Company to provide the new engine and generating equipment for the Marion municipal power plant. The bid price calls for a consideration of $215,440.00.

Fort Gordon, Ga. — Pvt. James L. Richmond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Richmond, Route 1, Marion, was graduated Oct. 4 from the radio relay and carrier operation course at the Army's Southeastern Signal School. Pvt. Richmond graduated from Marion High School in 1953.

Margie Bernhardt of Marion is one of the leaders of the Ottawa University band. She is a freshman and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bernhardt, Marion.

The young people of St. Mark's Catholic Church were hosts to the Newton Deanery young people Saturday evening for a dance and party in the Marion City Building. Music was furnished by Mac Kreuter and his hi-fi record player. The dance was chaperoned by Fr. Bierberle and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Schafers.

Duane Fike, son of Mrs. Vinnie Fike of Ramona, began his eight weeks of supervised practice teaching Monday, Oct. 21, under the block system at McPherson College. Duane, a senior English major, will do his student teaching at McPherson Senior High School.

Old neighbors and friends, who have gathered for a Halloween party at the home of the Art Hetts for the past nine years, had their annual get-together Saturday evening. Those who enjoyed the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Siebert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ewert, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ewert, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hett, Gene and Bobby and Mr. and Mrs. Art Hett.
