Dale Smith of Marion is gaining a wide reputation over the central states for the quality of workmanship of the trailers he manufactures at his plant here. Both steel and wood construction are used by Smith and he builds trailers of all sizes. Some have tops and others have tarps to keep off the weather.

Several Marion High School students have been accepted in the Emporia State College youth symphony orchestra and go to Emporia every other Saturday morning for rehearsal. Those involved are Lu Wheeler, 1st clarinet; Julia Wooldridge, 2nd flute; and Molly Brodhead, violin.

Grades four, five and six presented the operetta, "Pinocchio," in three acts Tuesday evening to a large audience. Miss Luella Cox, music supervisor, is to be congratulated on the excellent production with the assistance of the teachers of these grades. Lavina Hoffman was accompanist for the operetta.

Mrs. Wm. J. Ewert, 92, who we are informed was the last member living in Marion County of the original Mennonite immigrant colony that settled south of Hillsboro in the early 70s, died November 21 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J.A. Bartel and Mr. Bartel.

A fair sized crowd gathered at the Morning Star school house Thursday evening for the community meeting. Miss Hett led the group in singing. The eighth graders, Jerry Siebert, Ora Hett, and Billy Goentzel read a short story about Thanksgiving and Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Klenda showed pictures taken on a recent trip to California.

Names drawn in Wednesday's Cash Day included Mrs. John Mellott, Peabody, who missed $200; Mrs. Oscar Siebert, Marion, received $15; Mrs. S.H. Geis, Durham, missed $10; LaVaughn Klose, Marion, received $15; and Edward F. Holub, Marion, missed $5.

A venison supper was enjoyed by a number of folks Sunday in the recreation hall at the county lake. The men, who each shot a limit of this special meat, invited their friends to share the meal with them.

The 7th and 8th grade boys of the Pilsen school enjoyed a trip to Salina Friday evening to attend the Harlem Globetrotters basketball game.
