Notice was received last week that a hearing date has been set by the State Corporation Commission on the petition of the Rock Island and Santa Fe railroads to discontinue operation of the railroad station at Lost Springs. The two roads jointly operate the station, and they are also petitioning to discontinue Railway Express service there.

Ronald E. Chandler, manager of a grain elevator at Ramona was killed instantly Saturday night while coon hunting with five friends on the Ernest Kohman farm northwest of Ramona. The accident occurred when a dog knocked over Chandler's rifle which he had leaned against some brush.

Billy and Ruby Ann Winkley appeared with "Uncle Frito Joe" as his guest on the Saturday evening television program, "Stories of the Century," from Hutchinson. Ruby Ann was one of the winners two weeks ago. Billy had been a winner a year ago, and they both were asked to be guests.

Several couples from Marion attended the national square dance festival in Oklahoma City over the weekend. Included were Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Meierhoff, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wolf, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Pierce, Mr. and Mrs. George Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Navrat, and Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hassinger.

The Marion Warriors will travel to Peabody Thanksgiving afternoon for the annual Turkey Day classic. The holiday series had previously been dropped, but pressure against the move originated and it was decided to schedule the game on Thanksgiving starting again this year.
