Twenty-five Marion Boy Scouts and five leaders left Wednesday afternoon on their annual fall trip taken during teachers' meeting. Boys making the trip were Kenneth Bowers, Tommy Shirley, Wayne Thies, Lane Broadstreet, Paul Schmersey, Larry Evans, Ronald Druse, Donald Druse, Dennis Schroeder, Dick Morse, Robert Klose, Steve Greenemeyer, Dickie Varenhorst, Gerry Roberts, Dennis Pankratz, Gailen Broadstreet, Wayne Johnson, Delbert Matz, Billy Wheatley, James Melton, Jerry Loveless, Harold Soyez, Gary Loveless, John Russell and Terry Raleigh.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bredemeier announce the engagement of their daughter, Nova Louise, to Merle Dean Bruner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bruner, Marion. No wedding date has been set.

Karen Schroeder and Sandra Jackson were hostesses for a Halloween masquerade party at the Schroeder home Friday evening. Guests were girls in the sixth grade. Those present were Janet Whitlock, Marsha McCartney, Donna Newsom, Carol Kline, Connie Jackson, Connie Fisher, Diana Kimball, Deanna Klenda, Faith Kelsey and Georgia Helmer.

Four outstanding seniors at Marion High School have competed in the new, multimillion dollar National Merit Scholarship Program, Principal J.D. Corey, announced today. Roma Collett, Carol Krispense, Kay Navrat, and David Montgomery are the seniors who took the preliminary screening tests October 26 at the high school as the first step. Some 800 runners-up in the contest will be awarded Certificates of Merit and their names will be announced to all colleges and other scholarship agencies as students of unusual ability.
