Open house at the brand new Farmers Co-op Elevator in Durham will be April 11. The event is also somewhat of a celebration for the elevator's manager, Chas. A. Borton, who for many years has been identified with the grain business in Durham.

City crews were continuing their changeover from the former city dump to a new site just west of the old one. The city has made arrangements with Pearl Ratts, owner of the land to the west, to improve his property by filling in the old river channel there.

All first and second grade students in the Marion County schools will have the opportunity of receiving the Salk polio vaccine shots probably later this month, it is reported by Dr. T.C. Ensey, county health officer.

Bud Pierce of Bud's Conoco Service is mighty happy to announce that his station won fourth place in a nationwide B.F. Goodrich sales contest. The local station tied for fourth place honors throughout the nation. The prize was a 21-inch Motorola television set.

Several Marion students have had poems, which were written in English classes at the high school, published in the national high school Poetry Anthology. Certificates have been awarded to Nancy Keazer, Susan Olin, DeLoris Reed, Carmen Siebert, Carol Krispense, Norma Dick and Margie Bernhardt.

William R. Novak, Lost Springs, has been promoted to first lieutenant, effective March 16. A pilot-instructor, Lt. Novak is stationed at Goodfellow Air Fore base, San Angelo, Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Novak, Lost Springs.
