A total of $9,005 has been given away during the past two years by Marion business men who are contributors in the weekly "Cash Wednesday" series. The first "Cash Wednesday" was on March 22, 1954, and the series was renewed last week for another 13 week period.

Edward W. Colburn this week announced his candidacy for re-nomination on the Republican ticket to the office of probate Judge. Judge Colburn has capably served in this capacity and as county court judge for one term, succeeding Judge Jay E. Hargett.

A 15-minute radio program from stations KSAC, WIBW, a "Salute to Marion," will be presented May 1. The program will be presented principally by Dwight A. Nesmith of the state college engineering experiment station who has just recently completed an industrial survey of Marion for the chamber of commerce.

The boys in Michael Jantz's first grade room were his guests at a party Saturday afternoon in celebration of his seventh birthday. Guests included Warren Heart, Bobby Elling, Pat Costello, Bobby Winchester, Dennis High Smith, Chuck Seifert, Roy Dean Houdyshell, John Sandwell, Neil Colle, and Roland Sloup. Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jantz.

Mel Patton, track coach at Wichita University, will be the feature speaker of the annual Kiwanis athletic banquet this year. Kiwanians will host 59 boys at the affair which will be May 7 at the city building.

The last Country Club dance of the season will be this Saturday evening. The Stardusters will play. The committee is Mr. and Mrs. Rosse Case, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Colburn, Mr. and Mrs. Ried Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Costello, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. John Berns, Peabody.
