Four rural grade schools north and west of Hillsboro voted Tuesday in a special election to consolidate. The four schools are French Creek, Unruh, Silver Field and Brudertal.

The annual May Fete, featuring all the children at Bown-Corby School, the kindergarten, first, second, and third grades, was presented at the Marion gymnasium Tuesday evening. The processional brought on the trumpeters and baton twirlers, the rhythm band, balloon boys and girls and attendants and page boys. Then came the crown bearer, Jo Beth Crawford, and the Queen of May, Coralie Crawford. with her royal consort, Donald Westerhaus.

A group of juniors gathered at the Price home Thursday evening for a wiener roast between shifts at decorating for the Junior-Senior banquet. Those present were Johnsie Just, Betty Matthews, Delores Schafers, Joyce Pientka, Elda Pankratz, Margie Bernhardt, Maxine Hinz, Mary Lou Conyers, Pat Dixon, Margaret McClain, Dee Cheek, Mickey Seaton, Wade Robertson, Bob Eckstrom, Bill Burkholder and John Price.

A group of grade school students, mothers and sponsors left Marion by train Friday afternoon for a trip to Chicago. They joined a special train at Kansas City which carried about 800 students and their teachers. Those who made the trip from Marion were Mrs. Ed Colburn, sixth grade teacher; pupils, Karen Schroeder, Larry Buryanek, Tom Good, Garry King, Deanna Klenda, Marsha McCartney, Dennis Pankratz, Tim Williams, Sandra and Connie Jackson, Patsy Slusser, Mary Melton, Lowell Ensey and Janet Whitlock.
