Miss Julia Campbell, a respected and effective teacher in the Marion Elementary schools for the past 30 years, retires this year after actively teaching youth through two generations.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Darrow are opening a new grocery store at Aulne this Friday and Saturday. The Darrows are owners and operators of the Aulne Grain Company. Joyce Seibel has been employed to help with the operation of the store.

The special election held in the Pilsen school district Tuesday to authorize issuance of bonds up to $80,000 for a new grade school building, carried easily, 137 to 36.

Virginia Mae Stegeman, 10-yeear-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stegeman in North Marion County, won $245 May 21 on the "Strike It Rich" television program. Virginia Mae was stricken with polio at the age of three months and is confined to a wheel chair. The money won for Virginia will be used to purchase a television set for her.

There's a fellow working at the Record-Review named Ronald Widler. His claim to fame is that he traveled from "coast to coast" in 45 minutes. (Ron was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.)

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Riffel of Lincolnville announce the engagement of their daughter, Marlys Sue, to Mr. John Wayne Gutsch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gutsch, Lincolnville.

Graduation Day for five boys and three girls of the Pilsen grade school, District 115 began with Mass and communion at 8 a.m. At 6:30 p.m. class members were guests of Father Tonne at a dinner in the rectory. Commencement exercises were at 8 p.m. Diplomas were presented by Father Tonne to Gemma Jirak, Lucille Rudolph, Marlene Steiner, Frank Klenda, Robert Makovec, Robert Konarik, Ronald Stika and Laverne Bina.
