Members of the Marion High School graduating class of 1916 held a reunion at the Country Club on Decoration Day when 18 members returned. There were 42 members of the class, six are deceased. Arch O'Bryant, Wichita, was master of ceremonies.

The Lakeside Square Dance Club is planning an outdoor square dance for Thursday, June 21, on the tennis court at Central Park. In case of rain, the dance will be held in the American Legion Hall.

A business transaction of wide interest over the county took place in Marion Tuesday when the Midwest Sales and Service, local Ford Tractor agency, changed hands. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Batt's interest in the agency has been purchased by Harvey Schlehuber, Durham, and Elmer Schlotthauer.

Keith Williams this week took over operation of the Standard Oil Co. filling station on the hill. It was formerly managed by Durward Oblander.

Mary Stevens was hostess Friday evening for a line party at the show followed by refreshments at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stephens, in celebration of her 11th birthday. Those present included Helen Olsen, Mary Melton, Jo Ellen Atherton, Judy Richards, Jean Morse, Rose Marie Loveless, Sharon Nelson, Betty Lou Tipton, Ruth Lais and Sidney Hume.

A miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Irvin Williams Friday evening honored Miss Patsy Hett, bride-elect of Monty Frazier. Hostesses were Mrs. Harry Funk, Mrs. Orlan Carroll, Mrs. Allen Propp, Mrs. Clyde Darrow, Mrs. Irvin Williams and Donna Williams.

An explosion in a slag pit at the Kaiser steel mill in Fontana, Calif., caused injury to area workers and started several fires. Clifford Lucas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Lucas, Rt. 2, was among those injured and in the Kaiser hospital. Windows were shattered five miles away from the blast.
