The Marion city water supply is about holding its own under the present watering schedule in spite of continued lack of additional rainfall and runoff in the county watershed. Residents should continue to conserve water wherever possible until the situation is bettered considerably, Mayor Ira Newcomer said.

Two Marion beauties who will compete in the Marion County Fair in Hillsboro next week are Marian McClain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McClain, and Jeanette Russell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Russell.

A "very mild" case of polio, diagnosed as the result of a spinal fluid test, was reported in Marion last week. Bobbie Good, 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Good, is quarantined at home for two weeks as a precautionary measure, but his parents and physician report he is "getting along fine" without any complications.

Mrs. Gene Heath entertained with a farewell party August 17 in honor of the Methodist young people who are leaving. The guests of honor were Janet Priddle, Bob Mehlinger, Ann Davies, Caroline Merrill, Judy Thatch, and Rowena Olsen, all who will attend college this fall. The group presented Janet with a gift in honor of her approaching marriage. Others there Bruce Wingerd, Dick Hoch, Oscar Davies, John Rupp and Gerald Stage.

Commencement exercises of the graduating class at St. Joseph Hospital will be Sunday at the Cathedral in Wichita. The public is invited. Two Marion girls, Patsy Hett and Dorothy Sandwell, are members of the class.
