An unusually large freshman class has enrolled at Marion High School, boosting the early unofficial total to 182. Total enrollment in the various classes breaks down as follows: seniors 58, juniors 34, sophomores 33, freshmen 57.

Three attractive and personable girls have been named as finalists in the county "Queen" contest held this week at the Marion County Fair. They are Bonnie Harder, Margaret McClain, and Jeanette Russell. Of these three, one has been named Queen, and this announcement will be made Friday night. The other two will be her attendants. Under the rules, each of the three girls reigns as Queen for one day.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett announce the engagement of their daughter, Clarice Lucille, to Mr. William A. Hammer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hammer. No wedding date has been set.

Births announced in this week's issue include a son, Leo Edward, born to Mr. and Mrs. George Waner of Marion; a daughter, Abby Lorene, born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Call of South Gate, Calif.; and a daughter, Denise Marie, born to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Conyers of Marion.

The family of Mr. and Mrs. Otto McCarty gave a dinner Sunday at the recreation hall at the county lake honoring them on their 50th wedding anniversary,

Max and John Hayen accompanied Bob Ehrlich, John Tuell and Irvin Ehrlich to Kansas City Monday to attend the K.C. vs. Boston baseball game, but by game time it had rained out, so they came home badly disappointed.
