"The Reservation," Marion's new recreation center for teenage youth of the community will open officially this Friday. There will be an open house for the public for a period following the Old Settler's parade in the morning, then it will be open that night only from after the football game until midnight.

For the first time in all the months of the weekly Cash Day drawings, every winner was present this Wednesday and claimed their prize. First prize went to James W. Hett, Marion, $140; Joe Kristek, Ramona, 2nd, $15; Mrs. T.W. Butcher, Marion, 3rd, $10; Mrs. Elmer Scott, Marion, 4th, $10; and Fred H. Schimpf, Marion, $5.

Lt. Clair Garrison and Mrs. Garrison arrived in Marion from Long Beach, New Jersey, this week and after a visit in Emporia with his parents, and in Marion with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wolf, he will report back to his base Oct. 9 for overseas assignment. His wife will remain here for the present and join him at a later date.

A picnic supper at the Powers cabin Tuesday evening started off the year for members of the Literary Division of Community Guild. Mrs. Errett Phillips, hostess, was assisted by Mrs. Jim Yeagley, Mrs. Grace Salts, Mrs. E.F. Schroer, Mrs. Nodie Baker and Miss Julia Campbell.

Dale Christiansen, age 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Christiansen of Durham, won the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest Saturday at the rodeo in Wichita. He won a pony, saddle and bridle for first prize.

Jon Thole, president of Marion High School's chapter of FFA, tied for third place in the organization's information test given Tuesday at the officers' leadership school in Emporia
