54 graduate at MHS

Fifty-four seniors were honored Sunday at the MHS gymnasium as the 123rd graduating class of Marion High School.

The Marion High School band, under the direction of Mike Connell, performed the processional and recessional.

Students and their family and friends were welcomed by USD 408 superintendent of schools Lee Leiker.

The MHS Concert Band performed "With Each Sunset." The MHS Singers performed "Seeds Grow to Plants," under the direction of Kevin Moler.

Valedictorians Tedra Eis, Erin Richmond, and Emily Svoboda addressed the class.

Principal Ken Arnhold conducted the honor recognition with the introduction of the three valedictorians and salutatorian Danielle Cope.

Fifteen honor students were recognized: Luke Bowers, Danielle Cope, Tedra Eis, Elisa Gayle, Daniel Goentzel, Isaac Guetersloh, Paul Hodson, Laura Holt, Allison Meador, Lee Ownbey, Erin Richmond, Riley Ross, Emily Svoboda, Kari Tajchman, and Jordan Timm.

Twenty-one students were recognized for completing the Kansas Scholars curriculum: Luke Bowers, Danielle Cope, Erica Geis, Daniel Goentzel, Isaac Guetersloh, Kaitlin Hett, Kyle Hett, Paul Hodson, Laura Holt, MethAnn Johnson, Matthew Kirkpatrick, Ben Leppke, Lee Ownbey, Erin Richmond, Clay Riggs, Riley Ross, Sonja Steinborn, Emily Svoboda, Kari Tajchman, Jordan Timm, and Azia Waner.

Leiker presented the graduates of the class of 2007. USD board of education president Rex Savage presented diplomas.
