The fill made on the east side of the city park has been planted to grass. Playground equipment for smaller children has been ordered by the city commission. One piece includes four swings, a slippery slide, and teeter-totter. This will make it possible for mothers to take their young children to the park to play without having to take them clear to the back playground, designed for older children.

At this week's meeting of the City Commissioners, appointment were made for city employees. Those named included: A.W. Schoneman, city clerk; David W. Wheeler, city attorney; and Walter Siebert, city treasurer. Appointment of a police judge and fire chief were delayed to a later meeting.

Marion Main Street received a thorough cleaning down its full length last week. A rotary street sweeper belonging to the state swept all the accumulated dirt into the gutter where it was picked up and disposed of. The improvement was definite and commendable.

Bob Wills and his Texas Play Boys, a famous-named band, stopped in for breakfast in Marion Wednesday en route to Salina where they played an engagement that night. Ben Meier reports they complimented him on the food, the reasonable prices, the beautiful park and the attractive town.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Vinduska, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Vinduska, Leonard Klenda and a friend from Wichita enjoyed a party in Wichita Sunday evening. The group had seven o'clock dinner at the Continental Grill, then spent the evening at the Blue Moon, dancing to the music of Sammy Kaye.

Durham — Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Pope of Durham, announce the engagement of their daughter, Vivian Claire, to Mr. Norman Edmund Mueller, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.G. Mueller, Tampa, Kan.
