In a back-breaking, almost never-ending job, paid helpers and volunteers worked an almost 24-hour per day shift last week to spray Marion's shade trees and protect them from the destructive cankerworm. An estimated 2,000 trees were sprayed.

Marion Junior High School will present diplomas to 24 students May 19 at the annual graduation exercises. Members of the class are Nancy Allen, Herbert Bartel, Floyd Baxter, Michael Brodhead, Jerry Brose, Donald Burkholder, Harold Byram, Janet Haney, John Hayen, Peggy Hayward, Frena Hedrick, Diana Herbert, Larry Johnson, Marvin Kline, Jackie Lais, Shirley Mayfield, Pauline Minear, Thomas Pinkley, Donald Seibel, Shirley Tiemeier, John Summervill, David Wheeler, and Marvin Wunsch.

Marion city voters, 812 strong, militant and at times outspoken in their opinions, went to the polls Tuesday and (1) voted to permit licensing of packaged liquor stores in the city, and (2) turned down a proposition to issue bonds in an amount necessary to build a modern swimming pool.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Winchester announce the arrival of a son, Robert Steven, born May 4 at the Marion Hospital. They also have a little daughter, Belita, aged two.

In a beautiful and impressive ceremony, Miss Loretta Stika, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stika, Marion, became the bride of Mr. Richard Noone, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.F. Noone, Tampa.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Siebert were honored when the following friends were their Sunday evening guests in celebration of their 29th wedding anniversary: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wait, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Penland, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Penland, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kelsey, and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Troster, the Sieberts' houseguests.
