Approximately 100 scouts and leaders of the Chingawassa District of Boy Scouts set up their tent village at Marion County Lake last Friday and carried out a full program of camping activities until Sunday afternoon. The district encompasses troops from Marion, Peabody, Elmdale, Lehigh, Clements and Strong City. The Marion Scouts leaders are Virgil M. Wiebe and Homer Stiller. Junior leaders are Forrest Kelsey and Bob Reinke.

Miss Ruth Jo Willming has been elected to teach the first grade in the Franklin School at Junction City. Miss Willming has taught the second grade here for the past five years,

The Tampa grade school and teachers were in Marion Thursday for a picnic and sightseeing trip. Mrs. Harry Kleiber and the following pupils visited the Record: Doris Mueller, Dolores Srajer, Jean Herbel, JoAnn Moffitt, Darlene Keller, Leona Mueller, Donna Rae Klein, Helen Maaser, Tommy Moffitt, John Mark Rhodes, James Moffitt, Monica Marie Lade, Gloyde Miller, Leona Nely, Darlene David, Cecile Mae Gooding, Eileen Schwartzman.

Invitations have been issued by Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Hobson for the wedding of their daughter, Virginia Ella, to Arnold Clyde Starkel of Florence on Sunday, May 23.

Brownie Scouts of Troop 5 met in the city park Monday afternoon. Those present were Rita Miser, Susan Thiel, Carol Ann Perryman, Darlene Oblander, Gaila Jost, Mary Williams, Molly Brodhead, Jean Harris, Wanda Johnson, Caroline Susdorf, Marilyn Dixon, Joan Johnson and Carol Hollar. Mrs. Robert Dixon and Mrs. Wayne Johnson are the leaders.

Jonathan Youk, better known as Jack Youk, announces his candidacy for the nomination for sheriff of Marion County on the Democratic ticket.
