Painted on the roof of the new Badger Lumber company are bright orange-yellow 10-foot letters and symbols indicating the direction and distance to the Marion airport. This official airway marker sign was arranged and paid for by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Irish Ireland bore down on Lyons batters last Thursday and blanked the visitors in a 6-0 ball game, allowing only 2 hits. The line-up for Marion included Hudgins 2b, Ireland p, Keltner lf, Kennedy 1b, Williams c, Winter cf, Conyers rf, and McFadden ss.

The names of 14 students from Marion County will be among the more than 1,600 listed on the 1948 University of Kansas commencement program. Those from Marion are Bettie L. Batt, BS in education and Edward W. Colburn, MA.

Girls chosen to attend Girls' State at the University of Kansas June 13 to 20 are Mary Louise Heath and Madeline Penland. Alternates are Jean Muse and Donna Hobein. Kerns Allen, Don Fruechting and Bob Reinke will go to Boys' State at Wichita during the latter part of June. Betty Williams, who attended Girls' State and Girls' Nation last year, has been chosen to go back to Girls' State as a junior counselor.

An announcement of special interest and satisfaction to Marion residents is made by the Marion Creamery this week that they are now producing and marketing only Grade A pasteurized and homogenized milk.

The intermediate girls' Sunday school class and their teacher, Miss Anita Seifert, of the Strassburg church, enjoyed a combined hayrack ride and wiener roast at the lake Thursday evening. The following members were present: Lois Weber, Donna Stenzel, Doris Willems, Shirley Stenzel, Patricia Kruse, Madora Richmond, Neva Stenzel, Virginia Willems, Zona Kelsey and Carol Krispense. Others enjoying the evening were Arlene Weber, LaNorma Schlotthauer, Violet Krispense and Faith Seifert.
