Ernie Holmes, owner of the local Gamble Store has purchased the entire hardware and equipment stock of the Farmer's Hardware, owned by Frank Hollar. The transaction was effective immediately. The two stores will be combined into one building and Hollar will retain the poultry business.

A number of young people who have been going to school are employed at various places of business through the summer months. Donna Hobein and Richard Rhode are helping at the J.C. Penney Co. store; Jean Muse is at the Pharmacy; Alex Case Jr. and Rosse Case at Case and Son; Jack Beaston at the State Highway Barn and many others, no doubt, whom we have not learned about.

Marlys Jean Rupp entertained at a hamburger fry at the lake May 28 followed by a slumber party and breakfast at her home. Guests were: Charlene Youk, Diana Herbert, Patricia Kruse, Karen Brodhead, Nancy Burkholder, Ginger Price and Marilyn Reh.

The Sub Deb spring formal dance was held at the Country Club last Saturday night. The following were present: Donna Christensen, Georgia Christensen, Cherridah Mullikin, Betty Williams, Loyette Hollar, Anne Burkholder, Patsy Harris, Joan Herzet, Virginia Geis, Marilyn Hayen, Donna Hobein, Jean Muse, Lucy Sandwell, Mary Heath, Pat Brose, Warren Hayen, Bill Higgins, Kerns Allen, Dean Hansen, Kenneth Conyers, Joe Bill Gound, Max Merrill, Keith Kelsey, Forrest Kelsey, Donald Wright, Mahlon Wheeler, Allen Hein, Tim Burkholder, Dale Vogel, and Bob Reinke.

Mrs. Joe Childs was complimented at a pink and blue shower May 27 at the Fred Knackstedt home. Hostesses were Mrs. Alden Slusser, Mrs. James Loney Jr., and Irene Mott Alocco.

Dean Batt, son of Chas. Batt, graduated June 7 from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas with a major in law. He will continue his studies toward a degree in law. Mrs. Batt, although having graduated from the School of Education in February, also participated in the commencement exercises.
