Twenty men reported out for town team basketball practice Tuesday with Eugene Knackstedt as manager. Among them were Kenny Nelson, Arnold Schwemmer, Doug Herbert, Bob Ecker, Bob Bailey, Bob Edmunds, Lawrence Burnett, Merle Ayler, H.C. Post, Art Schmersey, Francis Roberts, and a number of others. The team will play Burdick tonight on the home court.

A line formed and doubled back on itself in the corridor of the courthouse Wednesday when the new 1946 car tags went on sale. Three hundred and fifty went over the counter in a rush that looked like bargain sales day.

Max Jackson plans to join his father, Guy Jackson, in the clothing business in Marion. Max Jackson left the service in October after having served four years in the Air Corps.

Two Marion filling stations changed ownership this week. Ollenberger and Winters Skelly station at the Main Street bridge has been taken over by Ronald Ollenberger with Willard (Arky) Reiswig as his assistant. W.A. Ollenberger, who has run the station for over three years is retiring from business. The second change is on the hill where George Helmer sold his grocery and filling station to Willard and Glenn Conyers who took over its management Jan 1.

Norma Jean Amick honored Jeanne Carpenter at a dinner at her home Saturday evening. Other guests were Phyllis Beu, Suzanne Wheeler, Jackie Hawbecker, LaVerna Knight, Marjie Frazier, and Mary Lou Tibbetts.

Fifty-three births in the Marion community during 1945 gives promise of a flourishing school population in 1950. Of the number, 23 are boys and 30 are girls.

Buddy Hannaford is confined to his home with an ear infection.

A new club, as yet unnamed, has been organized by a group of Marion young women. On Saturday evening their first social event, a dance, was held at the Country Club for members and guests. The organizers of the club include Dorothy Ecker, Elaine Ensminger, Barbara Hollar, Barbara Lea Knight, Nadine Meyers, Corrine Nelson,, Hanna Mae Phillips, Mary Ray, Doris Schmersey, Billie Schwemmer, and Dorothy Wright.

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe King and Mary Helen and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gimson attended the play, "Life With Father," Thursday night at the Arcadia Theater in Wichita.
