Elected officials for Marion County were sworn into office this Monday, January 13. Included were S.W. Williamson, county commissioner of the second district; George H. Jost, commissioner for the first district; Ed Nicklaus, third district commissioner; Jay Hargett, probate judge; Lillian Pierce, register of deeds; J.K. Warkentin, county clerk; Lloyd Davies, sheriff; Francis R Roberts, treasurer, and Charles W. Ward, county attorney.

The Ramona State Bank was robbed of $600 in cash and contents of 14 safety deposit boxes were left in a confused mess on the floor Thursday night when two men entered the conference room by breaking in the back door, then chiseled their way through a brick wall into the vault, Lloyd Davies, sheriff, reports.

Jim Kline was named undersheriff Monday by Lloyd Davies, Sheriff, to succeed George Gephart of Peabody who resigned in order to rebuild his station in Peabody destroyed recently by fire. Gephart will remain chief deputy.

Caroline Riddle Doster, who came as a bride to Marion Centre in the spring of 1871 and was perhaps the oldest surviving member of Marion's early pioneers, died at her home in Topeka early Saturday morning. She would have been 100 on May 3rd of this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Emory Hawbecker expect to attend the wedding of Miss Joyce Gehring and Kenneth Kyle at the Mennonite church at Burns Sunday afternoon. Mr. Kyle is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kyle who have lived near Marion for many years.

Miss Vinnie Wible entertained at a dinner Friday evening served at Philip Stenzel's residence honoring Mrs. Ralph Bennett of Long Beach, Calif., who has been visiting Miss Jenny Corby. Guests included Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Paul Shahan, Mrs. Allen Kimble, Miss Tommy Matlock, Mrs. Clara McKay, Mrs. Louis Blackim, and Mrs. Broder Williamson.

Pauline Keazer, an Alpha Phi at Washburn University, had the pleasure of being present when her sorority gave a farewell tea honoring Mrs. Andrew Schoeppel, a member of the sorority, just before the governor and his wife left Topeka.

Mary Margaret Hannaford entertained several friends with a line party to the show, followed by refreshments at her home, Monday evening, to celebrate her 12th birthday.
