An overflow crowd estimated at more than 200 persons met in the Canada Hall Monday night to protest against plans in progress for school reorganization in Marion County and to voice their wish for amendments to the present reorganization law.

Fire destroyed the wash house and its contents at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on the farm southeast of town on which the Bob Mathiot family lives. Contents lost include the cream separator, washing equipment and clothing for outside wear, in addition to numerous other article.

A new addition to Bown-Corby School, installed Friday, is a delight to both teachers and children there, Miss Mildred Pray, principal, reports. New venetian blinds have been installed at windows on the south and west side.

"Courage of Lassie," shown at the Kaw last Sunday, broke all records for attendance since Richard Brodhead, present manager, has been in charge.

The Kansas Central Lines, according to H.F. Lehrer, manager, is applying for an operating license over Highway 81 from Newton to Wichita. Should the right be granted, all traffic originating north of Newton will be routed straight through to Wichita, Lehrer said.

James M. Loney Jr. began work recently as a brakeman on the Rock Island Railroad out of Herington. His wife who is employed by the welfare department here spent Sunday with him at Herington.

Recent deliveries of new cars by Paul Seifert Motor Company include a new Buick super sedan to Errett Phillips and a new Chevrolet sedan to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

A budding young attorney, who is said to be in good voice and able to present his case successfully, arrived in the E.G. Westerhaus household Tuesday. The young man, Donald Joseph, weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces at birth. This is their first child.

The Marion Airport has its share of celebrities but one right out of the top drawer dropped in Sunday morning. Gov. Kim Sigler of Michigan, in his own Cessna plane, stopped at the airport during the storm. Sigler was en route to his home from Wichita.. He hopped from here to Emporia, then on to Kansas City.
