A popular vote on the liquor question in 1948 was assured Tuesday when the Kansas State Senate voted 35 to 4 in favor of a resubmission. Under the provisions of the resolution, the people in 1948 will have an opportunity to reaffirm the state's longtime stand for prohibition or to instruct the 1969 legislation to set up a system under which liquor would be legal.

A charming, hilarious story in the form of a play entitled "Big Hearted Herbert" will be presented by the Dramatics Club Players Jan. 31 at Marion High School. Students in leading roles are Warren Hayen, Don Van Buren, Donna Hobein, Bob Reinke, Nora Zeller, Don Schlotz, Clyde Hiebert, Donna Jean Christensen, Dean Hansen and Betty Williams. Miss Janice Warders is directing the play.

James A. Shields and George H. Shields have taken over the operation of the station formerly known as the Phillips Oil Co. and operated by Mrs. Cecil Phillips of late years.

Members of Junior Athena entertained the Sub Debs at a potluck supper Monday night at the City Building. The theme was "School Days" and all came dressed in plaid shirts and jeans. Hostesses for the party were Mrs. Estil Longhofer, Mrs. Bill Wright, and Mrs. Bud Ensminger.

Recent car and truck deliveries by the Powell Motor Company include a new Dodge custom 4-door sedan to Earl Barrett, Dodge business coupe to Frank Layton, Dodge custom 4-door sedan to D.W. Wheeler Jr., Plymouth deluxe 4-door sedan to Claud Noll, Florence, Dodge 1/2 ton pickup to Gilbert Mott, Dodge 1/2 ton panel truck to Home Oil Company, Dodge 1 ton "Power Wagon" to Melvin Harding of R.E.A., and Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck to Lehigh Milling and Oil Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D. Bennett moved Friday to a new apartment constructed in the Wheeler building out of space which once served as an auditorium used by the Y.M.C.A. Mr. Bennett is employed as bookkeeper at Paul Seifert Motor Company. This is the third suite of rooms on the second floor of the building in addition to the hospital. Dr. R.R. Melton and W.O Schroeder are the other occupants.

Venetian blinds were installed this week at the country club, greatly improving the appearance of the building.
