Private Jonathan Jantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Jantz of Tampa, was killed in action February 22, 1945, somewhere in Germany, according to word received by his parents Monday from the War Department.

Sgt. Louis P. Vinduska, reported missing since November 23, 1944, is a prisoner of war, according to a card received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Vinduska, March 2. The card had been written by Sgt. Vinduska and was mailed November 29, 1944, six days after his capture. He said he was in good health.

Walter Siebert this week accepted the position of trustee of the Community Hospital, replacing Randolph Carpenter, who resigned because of other duties. Payment of pledges to the hospital will henceforth be made at the Farmers and Drovers Bank where Mr. Siebert is employed.

A section of the hot water furnace exploded Saturday morning at the house owned by Mrs. Bert McCullough with a terrific noise. No particular damage was done other than the wrecking of the section and the resultant flooding of the basement.

In their traditional season-end ceremonies, the Marion High School basketball team wound up their current season last Friday night at the local gymnasium. Miss Ella Meier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meier Jr., and Gene Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Nelson were named the Basketball Queen and King for 1945.

The farm two miles east of Marion known as the Keller farm was sold to Conrad Hett and son, Roy. Clyde Loveless completed the sale.
